OCZ Vertex 2 100GB SandForce SF-1200 Solid-State Drives
May 16, 2010 | Storage | Comments OffThe Vertex Series of OCZ Solid-State Drives (SSD) was probably one of the most successful DSS published by any manufacturer. When we reviewed the original 120GB hard Vertex in April 2009 we found that DSS is a wonder that was among the first on the market that have the capacity to collect garbage and Trims.

It was really a player that was better than today much of the same competition and it is a solid player in the scene thanks to the controller Indilinx Barefoot. OCZ has been busy working on their next generation SSD products, and instead of using Indilinx Barefoot controller last year they found new controller series that they liked from a company called ahead SandForce SSD controller. Vertex 2 is available in 50GB (OCZSSD2-2VTX50G), 100GB (OCZSSD2-2VTX100G) and 200GB (OCZSSD2-2VTX200G) capacity drive with the 50GB model with a cost of $ 199.00, 100 GB $ 409.99 and the 200 GB model is sold for $ 749.99. Clearly, these discs are not cheap! They happen to be price competitive with other readers of SF-1200 series SandForce, though.
Within the retail bundle we found that OCZ has introduced a 3.5 “adapter bracket desktop with SSD Vertex 2. It is a nice touch that most of the cases that have been sold in recent years n were not designed to store 2.5 “SSD, so you have a way of securing them. Notebook users will not need for it, but it is good that companies are including these adapters.
The reader that we are considering today is the Vertex 100GB OCZ 2 model with a partial number OCZSSD2 2VTX100G. It has a matte black finish with a sticker that indicates clearly what the player is. You can not really dress up SSD make it look better, but for most of us apparently did not matter because he will be enclosed in a notebook or drive Bay of your frame and not be seen for years if everything goes as planned.
