HP Designs Document Describes Data Center

The document describes how 10,000 dairy cows would meet the energy needs of a 1-megawatt (MW) data center the equivalent of a data center sized – with power left over for meet the needs of other farm.

You should not have to open your imagination very far from understanding what is really happening here, but here is a nice, politically correct explanation:

“In this process, the heat generated by the data center can be used to increase the efficiency of anaerobic digestion of animal waste. This results in the production of methane, which can be used to generate electricity for data center. This symbiotic relationship allows the problems faced by dairy farm waste and energy demands of modern data center to be addressed in a sustainable manner”.

You’ve probably turned nose just after reading the title. We can not blame you. We do the same thing. And in fact, we probably brushed this off as a hoax if it does not come directly from his own farm of HP news releases, making it almost impossible to deny its legitimacy. HP Labs, the arm of the company primary research, just released this week that the research shows how “the production of cow manure and heat generation data centers can be combined to create an economically and environmentally sustainable transaction. “Shocking? Yes. Gross? Yes. Reasonable? Certainly.
